Draw a Hopscotch card. Have your child count the number of shapes on the card and jump that many times down the Hopscotch board. As your child jumps on the board, make sure he says the numbers out loud.

Adult: [Draws card. The card has five dots] Count the dots!
Child: One, two, three, four, five. Five dots!
Adult: Good! Now jump five spaces and say the numbers you land on.
Child: One! [Jumps to space numbered 1]
Two! [Jumps to space numbered 2]
Three! [Jumps to space numbered 3]
Four! [Jumps to space numbered 4]
Five! [Jumps to space numbered 5]

Draw another card. Tell your child to count the dots on the card and jump forward that many spaces while saying the numbers out loud. Keep drawing cards until your child jumps on 10. Do not go past 10. Repeat the game several times before trying any variations.

There are 4 separate sets in the following pdf file. Each set is made up of three cards with the same shape on them. The sets are designed so that your child will stop at exactly 10 on the hopscotch board. Do not mix the sets unless the shapes add to 10.
